1. FLAVA GIRL SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Each model submission must consist of one complete outfit/look with a total of ten (10) final, publication-quality photographs:
- 8 Portrait/Vertical Images
- 2 Landscape/Horizontal Images
- All 10 images must feature the same submitted model and outfit/look.
- Images must be high-resolution and suitable for print publication.
- Images should not contain watermarks, logos, borders, screenshots, or social-media graphics unless approved by Flava Girl Magazine.
- The photographer must have the legal authority to submit all photographs provided.
Submission does not guarantee publication.
2. FLAVA GIRL HAS FIRST CHOICE
Flava Girl Magazine receives first selection of all photographs submitted for the applicable feature.
The photographer agrees not to promise any particular submitted image to the model, another publication, website, company, brand, or third party until Flava Girl Magazine has completed its selection.
Flava Girl Magazine maintains editorial discretion regarding which submitted photographs will appear in the magazine and how many photographs will be used.
3. EXCLUSIVITY & IMAGE EMBARGO
Exclusivity is an important part of the Flava Girl experience.
Photographs submitted and accepted for an upcoming Flava Girl Magazine issue are considered embargoed and confidential editorial material.
Submitted Flava Girl images may not be publicly posted, released, published, distributed, previewed, leaked, sold, licensed, or otherwise made publicly available before publication.
This includes publication or distribution through:
- Instagram
- Facebook
- TikTok
- X
- Threads
- Photographer websites
- Model portfolios
- Online galleries
- Other magazines
- Blogs or websites
- Advertising
- Promotional flyers
- Public or subscriber-only social platforms
- Any other public digital or print platform
The embargo remains in effect until two (2) months after the official release date of the applicable Flava Girl Magazine issue, unless Flava Girl Magazine provides written authorization for an earlier release.
4. RELEASE OF IMAGES TO THE MODEL
The photographer is responsible for informing the model that photographs created and submitted for her Flava Girl feature are subject to the magazine's publication embargo.
The photographer must hold the submitted final images and refrain from providing them to the model for unrestricted public use until the applicable embargo has expired.
If proofs must be provided for review or selection, the photographer must clearly inform the model that those images are confidential and may not be posted, shared, published, or distributed publicly during the embargo period.
5. PREMATURE RELEASE OF IMAGES
If submitted or accepted photographs appear publicly before Flava Girl Magazine's authorized publication or during the applicable embargo period, Flava Girl Magazine reserves the right to:
- Immediately remove the model or feature from the upcoming issue;
- Reject the affected photographs;
- Replace the feature;
- Cancel the photographer's pending submission;
- Suspend or terminate the photographer's status as a Flava Girl photographer; and/or
- Decline future submissions from the photographer.
Flava Girl Magazine retains editorial discretion in determining whether an embargo violation has compromised the exclusivity of a feature.
6. PHOTOGRAPHER COPYRIGHT
Unless otherwise agreed to in writing, submission of photographs does not automatically transfer the photographer's underlying copyright ownership.
For photographs accepted for publication, the photographer grants Flava Girl Magazine permission to reproduce, publish, crop, resize, format, and display the selected photographs in connection with the applicable magazine issue, website feature, social media promotion, archives, and reasonable promotion of the issue or feature.
Any broader commercial licensing or copyright transfer must be separately agreed upon in writing.
7. MODEL AUTHORIZATION & AGE REQUIREMENT
All models submitted to Flava Girl Magazine must be 18 years of age or older.
The photographer confirms that each submitted model meets this requirement.
Publication may also require the model to complete Flava Girl Magazine's official Model Release & Publication Agreement and provide acceptable proof of age and identity.
The photographer's submission does not replace the model's individual authorization.
8. THE FLAVA GIRL PHOTOGRAPHER STANDARD
Becoming a Flava Girl photographer means becoming part of the Flava Girl brand.
We expect every contributing photographer to demonstrate:
LOYALTY. HONESTY. TRUST. PROFESSIONALISM. DISCRETION. RESPECT.
Photographers must treat models professionally, respect boundaries and consent, protect confidential editorial material, honor publication deadlines, and communicate honestly with Flava Girl Magazine.
Violation of these standards may result in suspension or termination of Flava Girl photographer status.
9. NO GUARANTEE OF PUBLICATION
Submission does not guarantee:
- Model acceptance
- Publication
- Cover placement
- Featured-model placement
- Future photography assignments
- Employment
- Compensation
- Future collaboration
All final editorial decisions remain with Flava Girl Magazine.
PHOTOGRAPHER ACKNOWLEDGMENT
I have read and understand the Flava Girl Magazine Photographer Submission & Confidentiality Agreement.
I understand the image requirements, first-choice policy, confidentiality requirements, publication embargo, and professional standards required of Flava Girl photographers.
I agree to comply with these requirements for photographs and models I submit to Flava Girl Magazine.
